"CORDWAINERS' WARD, which is bounded on the north by the Ward of Cheap, on the east by that of Walbrook, on the south by that of Vintry, and on the west by that of Bread-street. It extends from Walbrook eastward along Watling-street, to Red Lion-court westward, and its principal streets, are Bow-lane, Queen-street, Budge-row, Little St. Thomas Apostle, Pancras-lane, Size-lane, Basing-lane and a part of Watling-street. The principal buildings in this ward are the parish churches of St. Mary-le-bow, St. Mary Aldermary and St. Anthony's or St. Antholin's. It is divided into eight municipal precincts and is governed by an alderman, Christopher Smith, Esq., M.P., a deputy and seven other common-councilmen and other ward officers." [ J.
