"BABINGTON, a parish in the hundred of Kilmersdon, in the county of Somerset, 5 miles to the N.W. of Frome, its post town. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Bath and Wells, of the value of £170, in the gift of the Rev. T. R. Joliffe, the incumbent. The church, erected in 1750, is dedicated to St. Margaret. There is an endowed school, with a revenue of £15, and other charitable endowments of the yearly value of £10. The chief residence is Babington House, the seat of the Knatchbulls."
